Knock on the same door.

Pranam to my Guru Krsna.

Have you noticed that when in life difficulties come, we knock on the same set of doors? Now these doors have been earlier knocked on and some have helped, most have not.

I remember my own difficult time I did the same thing and got the same answers from the same people, when I knew the outcome why did I do so? What made me think that this time they would help? Why did I open myself up to more slap downs and an earful of hurtful words? I used to wonder on it and never found answers.

Soon I got my answer and that too quite unexpectedly! One day at Guruji’s Ashram I was standing with Him near a window. In the morning hours, all the mosquitoes and insects fly out, there were these couple of them who were continuously literally knocking on the netlon mesh and trying to go out. I said to Him, ‘There is this big door on this side lying fully open, why don’t they just fly out from there, instead of repeatedly trying from a closed space?’

Guruji looked at me and said, ’Are you not doing the same thing in your life? You are knocking on the same closed doors with blinkers on and are repeatedly trying to open them to get answers to your issues!’ I sheepishly looked at Him and asked then what to do Guruji?

Guruji said, ‘Open up your mind, do lateral thinking, think out of the box.’ I was still looking down with a crestfallen expression on my face, when he said, ‘ Listen to this story from Shri Ramakrishna Parmahansa’s book.

The story…. One day a woodcutter was chopping wood in the jungles, after a while he sat down tired and was worried. A passing saint saw him and asked what the problem was? When the woodcutter explained, the saint responded with, ‘Go ahead!’ Initially the woodcutter just wondered what instructions he had been given. The next time when he was in the forest, he remembered the saint’s advice and decided to go further into the woods. As he went further he found a silver mine, he took a sufficient amount with him and went home to his family. They started enjoying a good and a comfortable life. Then he recalled the saint’s advice again, ‘Go ahead!’ He again went to the forest, further than the silver mine and found a gold mine! He was happier than before and led an even more comfortable life. He again went to the forest and went still further and found a diamond mine! He was thrilled to bits.

I asked Guruji what the story meant, Guruji replied,’ It means that just because you are facing problems does not mean you stop trying, when from some doors you do not get answers, go knock some more and more and more. Sometimes for the right door to open for you it is destined that you knock on all the others which did not reply.’ ‘Remember that student who got married to the 13^th alliance he was introduced to. To reach 13, he had to go from 1-12.’ Always keep in mind that there is no stopping, you have to ahead and ahead and ahead and this you have to do with full Faith and you will find your answers!

I followed his advice and did find my answers and it was exactly as he said, I had to keep knocking and knocking and knocking! By the way I had not shared with him that I had been unsuccessful in my efforts, then how did he know what was going on with me at that time? That’s how the Guru’s are, there is nothing hidden from them. I am truly Laki(lucky) to have Him guide me!

Meerabai sings,

‘Ranaji Main to Govind Ke Gun Gasu,

Raja Roothe, Nagari Rakhe,

Hari Ruthaya Kahan Jasu,

Ranaji Main to Govind Ke Gun Gasu!’

Since childhood I have literally been having an affair with Lord Krsna and am crazily in Love with Him. Those days Meerabai bhajan’s used to come on radio and with my mother I also used to listen to them. I still sit enthralled and enraptured while listening to them and cry my heart and eyes out.

When one does not understand the deeper meaning one tends to take literal meaning of the bhajan. So I always considered Meerabai and Ranaji to be different entities and never considered the bhajans to have any deeper meaning associated with my life.

During Satsangs, Guruji taught us to always look for deeper meanings and to not take everything at literally at face value. We were having The Bhagvad Gita Satsangs those days and Guruji had taught that Arjuna is no one else but us, it is our story.

So one day when I was listening to these bhajans, I pondered and wondered what the meaning could be and then realized what it meant. Sharing my understanding here. So in the bhajan Meerabai says, Ranaji Main to Govind Ke Gun Gasu, Raja Roothe, Nagari Rakhe, Hari Ruthaya Kahan Jasu’

In this worldly life Ranaji is the world, the relationships, the attachments, they go away or break off and new ones will form. But one must keep on singing the praises of the Lord and hold steadfast to him, if the relationship with the Lord breaks off where will we go! To cross this ocean of life and reach His eternal abode, to be with Him, is after all the purpose of this human life!

A few words just flowed out and putting them humbly at the feet of my Krsna!

Oh My Krsna, I sing your praises,

While holding steadfast to your feet.

I beseech you forsake me not,

To the waves of the ocean of worldly life,

For they toss me hither and thither,

And try hard to take me away from you,

And try hard to take me away from you!

Oh My Krsna, I sing your praises,

While holding steadfast to your feet.

Meerabai's Bhajan

Pranam to my Guru Krsna

After all I am a human,

How much can I bear?

After all I am human,

To carry on is not easy!

After all I am human,

Fear, weakness and insecurity,

Are but close friends!

After all I am human,

I stress fairly easily!

These and countless other feelings and emotions are what almost all of us face. In the midst of difficult times, it is with trepidation that we face every day. At such a time to keep faith is an impossible task.

Well one day I went with these thoughts to my Guru. My Guruji spoke with me at length giving me strength and a lot of courage and kept on telling me to have faith. When I continued to sit with a morose face, he filled a glass of water and put a drop in it from a small bottle and said to me to drink it. I picked it up and as I was about to drink he stopped me and said that he had put a tiny drop of cyanide in it. I immediately put the glass down and looked at him totally bewildered!

He explained, ‘Doubt is like that tiny drop of cyanide in this water, which you refused to drink. When you say you have faith in God, then where has your faith gone in your difficult time? Your doubt poisons and destroys everything completely! This is the time to hold firmly to your faith and have implicit, complete faith and trust in God. It is only when you have complete faith that you will find answers!

God lives in you, the essence of God is the spirit that keeps you alive. Calm down and listen to the voice from within, it is only when you calm down will you be able to hear it. Listen to it and follow it, the 1^st thought that comes to your mind is by the inner voice, you can also call it the voice of God or your Guru and you will be guided onto the correct path!

As for being just a human, you will be as human as you want to believe you are! Whereas when you implicitly believe and have faith, you are strengthening the divine who lives in you and then that divinity will shine through you.’

So-

After all you are a human,

Through whom Divinity shines through,

Through whom Divinity shines through!

Pranam To My Guru Krsna!

My discovery of how God has placed each individual in the right place!

Almost everyone in their life sometime or the other have said that maybe they are not the right person for the job! I too have said it and this invariably comes up in a fight or an argument. I was facing great difficulty in business and was in an extremely tight spot and there was this discussion between my husband and me. I was cribbing about the issue and my husband was continuously telling me that I have to come up with the answer and invariably in the back and forth it turned into an argument. I stomped off saying, ’Maybe I am not the right person for the job’

I was mulling on this for a couple of days and was feeling quite upset and depressed,all the while thinking, ‘Why did God have to put me in such a situation?’ ‘Why can’t I do the things required?’ In this vein a dozen questions for which I did not have answers kept on popping up in my mind. Mind as they say is the devil’s workshop, it kept on adding more fuel to my fire. And I went further down, in my self-esteem, self-confidence and self-worth, mind kept on badgering me further and further and I thought that I was the worst person ever to be given this job! My husband kept explaining to me that my thinking was wrong and that I could do it. My patent answer was, I am not the right person and then I would just clam up and go into my shell.

This was the time that our Gita Satsangs were on and in my morose mood I was listening but not paying too much attention! Then Guruji said, ‘God has put everyone in their right place and in the right time’ This caught my attention and I started listening keenly. I was still wondering about this and then Guruji said, ‘Does God not know what he is doing? Will he give a potter a carpenter or a painter’s job? Not that the potter cannot do the other jobs, but his job is pottery and he should excel in it!

Guruji continued, ‘What makes you think that you are not the right person, so you doubt God? Now tell me when the CEO of a top company has to appoint CFO, CTO and all the other senior staff, is he just going to employ people left right and center or will he pick and choose after careful considerations,that candidate whom he considers as the right one! If the CEO does this for running his company, then the Lord who needs his world run,will he not choose the right candidate.’ Another example Guruji gave, ‘When you want to buy a cell phone or a car,in your budget don’t you go look around and select the best your money can buy? So think, he has placed you on this earth to do His job, why can you not understand and

believe that you are The Right Person, in The Right Place and at The Right Time’ Stop this silly thinking and get on with your job! Use that wonderful mind which he has given you to go in the right direction. Remember mind can either make you or break you,then why not take its help to make you. What’s stopping you? So go, go out there and do His job as you are The Right Person for The Job!’

On hearing Guruji’s these words I got like a big jolt of surprise and just sat literally in shock. I felt that he was speaking directly with me alone rather than a whole group and how did he know that I needed that explanation. Then I remembered that a Guru always knows, as the Guru is Eternal Mother and a mother always knows what her child needs. I felt very humbled and highly motivated after the Satsang and since then made every effort to not let such thoughts enter my mind. The Lord has placed each person in the right place, it's our duty to do our job to the best of our capability.I humbly thank my Guruji for this profound teaching and wonderful explanation.
